Andrew Garfield, the Oscar-nominated star of films including The Social Network, Tick, Tick… Boom! and the Spider-Man franchise, will discover his family history in the first episode of the new series of Who Do You Think You Are?

Andrew’s episode will air in the UK on BBC One at 9pm on Tuesday 22 April.

Andrew is a joint US and British citizen and his father’s family were Polish Jews who emigrated to the UK.

Andrew’s efforts to find out more about them will lead to some shocking and heartbreaking discoveries as he uncovers his family’s tragic experiences in the Holocaust.

Multitude Media, the producers of Who Do You Think You Are?, said: “Like several movie plot lines rolled into one, Andrew’s family history is a story of terrible tragedy and suffering, but also of survival, success and the redemptive quality of art.”
