Ancestry said: “This Women's History Month, we celebrate the pioneering women who paved the way. To help you find the stories of inspirational women in your family, we're offering Free Access to the 1921 Census of England, Wales and the Channel Islands, as well as millions more records, until 9th March.”
The 1921 census for England and Wales is a complete record of the names and addresses of the 38 million people living in the country at the time. It is the most recent available census of Britain. The next set of census records for England and Wales will not be released until 2051.
The 1921 census was exclusively published on Findmypast in 2022 and published on Ancestry at the start of this year. It has also proven popular with anyone wanting to find out more about who used to live in their house between the wars.
In addition to the 1921 census, Ancestry is offering unmissable free access to a range of other records, with a focus on women’s records, including Second World War Medal Index Cards, UK & Ireland Nursing Registers, the Midwives Roll 1904-1959, Women’s Royal Naval Service Officers’ service records, ships passenger lists and electoral registers.
