Singer-songwriter Olly Murs was born on 14 May 1984 in Witham, Essex. He is 40 years old. After finishing as a runner-up on The X Factor in 2009, Olly has had a successful career as a musician and TV presenter. Ahead of his appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? on Thursday 19 September 2024, here's five things you might not know about the star...

1. Chart-topper

Olly Murs has had four number one singles, with his hit songs including 'Dance With Me Tonight', 'Troublemaker' and 'You Don't Know Love'.

2. Xtra X

After breaking through on The X Factor, Olly later returned to the talent programme, presenting spinoff programme The Xtra Factor in 2011 and The X Factor in 2015.

3. Former footballer

Before his rise to musical stardom, Olly Murs was a promising footballer. He played semi-professionally for Witham Town but had to give it up, following a knee injury. His passion for football remains strong, and he often participates in charity football matches.

4. Reality show rejection

In 2007, Olly Murs appeared on Deal or No Deal, but his luck wasn't in – he only walked away with a measly £10.

5. Supporting star

As well as his own concert tours, Olly has also appeared as a supporting act for JLS, One Direction and Robbie Williams, and most recently in Take That's This Life on Tour.
